The change calendar: 171 software, tax and rule deadlines from our reports

Between now and the end of January 2027, the software, tax rules and funding calls our readers depend on will change on at least 121 separate dates. We know because we went back through every news item TrustList has published and pulled out each dated change a business has to act on: a product being switched off, a model retired from an API, a price or licence change with an effective date, a tax or e-invoicing deadline, a new rule coming into force, or a grant call closing. There are 171 of them from 15 October 2026 onwards, and 71 per cent fall in the next three and a half months.

Microsoft alone accounts for 26. AI services account for 18 more, most of them models being removed from the APIs that applications are built on. Nineteen are tax and e-invoicing deadlines, from the UAE's first go-live on 1 January 2027 to Spain's in 2027 and 2028.

This page is that calendar, month by month, with a link from each row to the report that gives its sources. We will keep it up to date as we publish new reports.

How we built it. We read the 498 news, HR news and business news items published on TrustList up to 14 October 2026 and kept every change a business buyer, IT team or finance team must act on whose effective date is 15 October 2026 or later. Dates and wording are as our reports state them, which in turn rest on the vendor's, regulator's or programme's own pages. Where a report gives only a month we show "During the month". Four rows are marked projected and one subject to approval, as the source describes them. We dropped two rows whose dates we could not pin down. Funding rounds and event dates are not included.

What the calendar shows

The 171 changes split into nine kinds:

Kind of change Rows
Product retirement or end of support 47
Grant or programme deadline 33
New rule or regulation in force 27
Deprecation of a feature or API 19
Tax and e-invoicing deadline 19
Price or billing change 10
Licence or terms change 3
Security deadline 1
Other operational change 12

Retirements and deprecations together make up 66 rows, nearly two in five. Software is being switched off faster than most buyers' contracts and roadmaps assume, and the notice periods are short: most of the October and November retirements were announced only weeks before.

Just under half of the rows, 83, apply worldwide. The other 88 apply in one country or region, from Pakistan's tax returns and India's audit reports to California's privacy rules and Nigeria's data residency rule for payments.

The calendar is also heavily front-loaded. October, November, December and January carry 121 rows; the rest of 2027 has fewer than 50. That is partly because vendors announce changes a few months ahead, so later months will fill as we report on them, and partly because the turn of the year is when tax and regulatory changes most often take effect.

The changes most likely to break something

Some changes on the calendar cost money; others stop systems working. These are the ones that will break integrations or sign-ins if nobody acts:

  • Exchange Web Services in Exchange Online starts being disabled from October 2026 and is fully off in April 2027. Any application still using EWS, including mail and calendar sync tools, has to move to Microsoft Graph.
  • OpenAI removes twelve older API model snapshots and five fine-tuning bases on 23 October 2026, more models on 6 January, 26 February and 1 April 2027, and shuts its Evals platform and Agent Builder on 30 November. Anthropic retires Claude Sonnet 4.5 from its API on 30 November. GitHub deprecates six models across Copilot on 19 October. Code that names a retired model stops getting answers.
  • GitHub runs brownouts of the old ssh-rsa signature and a legacy key exchange on 4 November and 9 December before removing them, and retires its macOS 14 Actions runner images on 2 November.
  • Let's Encrypt cuts its default certificate lifetime from 90 to 64 days on 10 February 2027. Renewal scripts that run on a fixed number of days will let certificates expire.
  • The old DNS root key, KSK-2017, is removed from the root zone on 22 March 2027. Resolvers that do not trust the 2024 key will fail to validate signed domains.
  • Exchange Online PowerShell enforces strict logon from 31 March 2027, and Microsoft Graph file APIs stop returning pre-authenticated URLs from 1 April 2027.
  • Azure Functions ends support for .NET 8, .NET 9 and PowerShell 7.4 on 10 November 2026, and for Node.js 22 on 30 April 2027.

For each of these the action is the same: find out this month whether anything depends on the thing being removed, because the brownouts and staged rollouts mean failures can start before the final date.

Price and billing changes

Ten rows change what a service costs. The largest by reach are Atlassian Cloud's start of billing for Rovo credits, automation steps and AI agent resolutions on 3 December 2026, which affects every heavy automation user; the doubling of Gemini 4 Argon's API prices on 1 December; and DigitalOcean's removal of larger plans and standby nodes from its Standard Edition managed databases on 30 November. OpenAI halves the usage included in its 200 dollar ChatGPT Pro plan on 30 October and adds a 500 dollar plan, and Microsoft turns on pay-as-you-go billing by default for new Microsoft 365 Copilot Business licences bought through partners from 2 November.

Price changes are the rows most worth putting in a finance calendar, because they arrive on an invoice a month after they take effect.

Tax, e-invoicing and regulation

The tax and e-invoicing rows are where a missed date costs the most, because the penalties are set by law. The UAE requires businesses with revenue of 50 million dirhams or more to appoint an accredited e-invoicing provider by 30 October 2026 and go live on 1 January 2027, with smaller businesses following on 31 March and 1 July 2027. Greece extends mandatory e-invoicing to businesses with revenue up to 1 million euros from 2 November 2026. The Philippines requires covered taxpayers to issue structured electronic invoices by 31 December 2026, although no providers had been accredited when we reported it. Saudi Arabia's next Fatoora integration wave falls on 1 February 2027, and Spain's B2B e-invoicing mandate starts for larger businesses on 6 October 2027 and for everyone else a year later.

The regulation rows include the EU AI Act's prohibition on nudification applications from 2 December 2026 and its high-risk rules for employment and education from 2 December 2027; California's wider data deletion rules and Connecticut's data broker registration from 1 January 2027; Nigeria's requirement that payment transaction data be held in the country from the same date; Poland's NIS2 duties from 3 April 2027; and the end of the US de minimis exemption for low-value imports on 1 July 2027.

How to use the calendar

  1. Read the rows for your stack and your countries. Most businesses will find only a handful that apply, but the ones that do usually need weeks of work.
  2. For every retirement, search code and configuration for the product, model or API name before the date, not on it. Staged rollouts and brownouts mean failures can start early.
  3. Put price changes into next quarter's budget at the new rate now.
  4. Treat tax and e-invoicing dates as fixed. Software providers for mandatory e-invoicing are often accredited late and booked up close to the deadline.
  5. Check back monthly. We add rows as we publish reports, and the later months of 2027 will fill.

Every row above links to the TrustList report it comes from. Each report lists its own sources: the vendor's changelog, lifecycle or pricing page, the regulator's notice or official journal, or the programme's call page, with the date we read it. The full archive is on our news, HR news and business news pages.
