Europe: funding calls and deadlines closing soon, week of 12 October

12 October 2026: Twelve funding calls for software, AI, cybersecurity and open-source teams in Europe close between now and 23 November 2026, and we read each one on its own page today. Deadlines, times and amounts are given as the funder states them; where a page gives a date without a time zone, we say so. Defence and dual-use calls are left out.

Not yet independently verified. Not yet independently verified. EU portal records were read through the portal search interface and give closing times without a time zone; Slovakia's SIEM call page was not read for amounts and eligibility. Italy, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Austria, Greece and Spain yielded no dated call in the window. We will update this when it can be confirmed, and remove this note. France and Germany: Bpifrance cross-border R&D calls

Bpifrance lists three international R&D calls with deadlines in the window. All three fund collaborative industrial research and experimental development; industrialisation and commercialisation costs are not eligible.

  • Eureka ITEA, international calls in software innovation. The project outline is due on 2 November 2026; the full proposal on 11 February 2027. A consortium needs at least two partners from two different countries, one of them an Eureka member. French SMEs and mid-caps (up to 2,000 employees) with a cumulative French budget under €4 million can ask their regional Bpifrance office for an innovation grant or an unsecured loan of €50,000 to €3 million; above €4 million, French participants can apply to i-Démo.
  • Eureka CELTIC-NEXT, information and communication technologies. The project proposal is due on 26 October 2026 on the cluster's site. The consortium needs a French company and an entity from a partner country, and the same Bpifrance range of €50,000 to €3 million applies.
  • France-Germany call with the ZIM agency. Applications by email to both agencies by 18 November 2026 inclusive. The consortium needs a French company and an independent German SME. In a two-partner project, no partner may exceed 70% of the person-months; with more partners, none may exceed 50%. Each country funds its own winners: Bpifrance in France, the ZIM project management agency in Germany.

French applicants must first contact their Bpifrance innovation account manager, who checks eligibility before any filing.

Ireland

Research Ireland's open list carries one programme in the window that reaches companies. Its International Joint Initiative for Research Harnessing Disruptive Technologies to Address Global Challenges has a full-proposal deadline of 3 November 2026. It supports international, interdisciplinary research on disruptive technology, for independent-investigator-led teams, with up to €500,000 in direct costs and a duration of up to three years.

Enterprise Ireland's Disruptive Technologies Innovation Fund Call 8 is open for €40 million but closes on 3 February 2027 at 3pm Irish time, outside this window. Its information webinar is on 22 October 2026 at 11am.

EU-wide: Horizon Europe and Digital Europe cascade calls

These are open calls run by funded projects, which give sub-grants to third parties. Each is on the EU Funding and Tenders portal; the portal data we read gives a time without a zone.

  • Restack open call (Open Internet Stack, topic HORIZON-CL4-2025-03-DATA-11). Funds new open-source internet building blocks, from chips to middleware and applications, without vendor lock-in. Deadline 3 November 2026, 12:00. Call budget €7,000,000.
  • CodeSupply open call (HORIZON-CL4-2025-03-HUMAN-16). Open metadata about software packages: origin, licences, vulnerabilities and quality, for supply-chain security and licence compliance. Deadline 3 November 2026, 12:00. Call budget €400,000.
  • FORTIS Open Call #2 (human-robot interaction). Open to universities, research organisations, mid-caps, SMEs, startups and end users; proposals must start at TRL 4 to 5 and reach TRL 7. Deadline 4 November 2026, 17:00. Call budget about €3.14 million.
  • AENAON Open Call 1 (cybersecurity for offshore wind and critical infrastructure). Open to SMEs, start-ups, large enterprises, researchers and cybersecurity providers. Deadline 13 November 2026, 17:00. Round budget €2,100,000 of a total €4,100,000; sub-grants up to €150,000 per action for small consortia.
  • EIT AI Entrepreneurs Lab. For early-stage AI and robotics talent: a five-day bootcamp across three cities for a cohort of up to 15, with up to five prizes of €10,000. Deadline 21 October 2026, 17:00.
  • Chips Joint Undertaking, AI compute evaluation and deployment platform for EU infrastructure (DIGITAL-JU-CHIPS-2026-AI-GFP). One procurement grant of €50 million to €70 million. Deadline 27 October 2026 (portal gives no time).

National cybersecurity calls under Digital Europe

Two national coordination centres run SME calls on the same portal. Slovakia's support for implementing a security information and event management (SIEM) solution closes 19 October 2026, 23:59 (no zone given); Finland's financial support for commercialising innovative cybersecurity solutions, for micro, small and medium enterprises registered in Finland, closes 4 November 2026, 23:59. We have published neither as its own item. Eligibility and amounts are on each call page.

Calls with no published date or outside the window

We found no call in this window from Italy, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Austria, Greece or Spain: their funder pages gave no dated call that closes between 12 October and 23 November, and several (Spain's CDTI, Kit Digital and Italy's Italia Domani) cannot be read without a browser. Their dates are not yet published to us rather than absent. The Digital Europe cybersecurity calls listed on the Commission's funding page, such as the AI-powered SME cybersecurity call (CYBER-11-AI4SME), close on 14 January 2027.
