Tencent closes its Yuanqi AI agent platform on 9 November

8 October 2026: Tencent will switch off Yuanqi, the no-code platform it offered for building and publishing AI agents, on 9 November 2026. Agents that were published from Yuanqi into WeChat Official Accounts, Service Accounts and WeChat Customer Service will stop answering users on that day, and the company says it will delete user data from 9 January 2027.

Not yet independently verified. Not yet independently verified. Tencent's notice page carries no date, so the notice date of 8 October rests on a news report. The shutdown dates are as the notice states them. We will update this when it can be confirmed, and remove this note. We will update this when it can be confirmed, and remove this note.

A staged shutdown with two hard dates

Tencent's own notice, which Pandaily reports was dated 8 October, gives "business adjustments" as the reason and nothing more. The platform closes in two steps. From 29 October, users can no longer create new agents or be issued API keys, although existing agents keep working. On 9 November the remaining public services go: app access, data reads and writes, API calls and use of the developer console. Yuanqi agent pages stop displaying.

The notice says agents published to other Tencent channels will no longer respond to conversations once the platform is off. For a business that put a Yuanqi agent behind a WeChat account to answer customer questions, that means the account goes quiet rather than falling back to anything automatically.

Export before the cutoff, download until January

Until 9 November the platform's export tool lets users back up agent configurations, workflows and conversation records to a local machine. After the cutoff there is a retention period running to 9 January 2027. During it, users can still sign in to a separate data export console to download backups, even though the rest of the platform is closed. From 9 January Tencent says it will delete all user data except logs and records it is legally required to keep.

The export tool and the later console are different routes. Anyone who wants to rebuild an agent elsewhere needs the workflow definitions and knowledge-base content, and the notice lists configurations, workflows and conversation records as the exportable items. Tencent has published a data export guide alongside the notice.

Where Tencent points users instead

The notice names two replacements. Tencent Cloud's Agent Development Platform, known as ADP, offers agent building, knowledge bases and publishing to several channels, which is the closest match to what Yuanqi did. WeChat Official Account smart reply is the lighter option: it can turn the account's articles into a knowledge base and lets the operator set prompts.

Users who move get two incentives. They can claim free ADP usage entitlements and use them within the allowance, and they can claim a Yuanqi voucher that is deducted when they buy a paid ADP package. Anyone who bought resource packs through the old Yuanqi entry on the Tencent Cloud website and still has unused resources or a balance on the shutdown date can apply for a refund, calculated in proportion to what was actually used. Tencent gives an email address for disputes over the amount.

What Tencent has not said

Yuanqi was introduced at a Tencent Cloud generative AI summit on 17 May 2024 as a one-stop platform for creating and distributing agents, with a store, plugins and workflows. Pandaily notes that Tencent's agent effort has since moved towards products it runs itself, such as the WorkBuddy office agent and vertical agents inside its own apps. Tencent has not said whether a successor service will take over Yuanqi's distribution role, and the notice does not say how many agents or businesses are affected.

Between 29 October and 9 November there are eleven days in which nothing new can be created but existing agents still run, and the export tool is the only supported way to keep a copy of the work.
