Tencent shuts QClaw on 24 December 2026, with user data deleted from 24 March 2027

24 September 2026 — Tencent is closing QClaw, its AI desktop assistant that users control remotely through WeChat to organise files and run multi-step tasks on their computer. In a notice published on the QClaw website on 24 September 2026, the QClaw team says the service will stop operating at 00:00 on 24 December 2026 "due to business development adjustments". TechNode reported the notice the same day.

QClaw was sold in Free, Pro and Team plans, according to its own pricing page description, and ran an open platform where developers could publish agents and connect their own applications through OAuth-based connectors, with revenue sharing. Anyone who used it for work, bought a Team plan, or built on the platform has three dates to plan around.

The timeline

According to Tencent's notice:

• 24 September 2026: new registrations, subscription purchases and renewals stopped. Automatic renewals are cancelled without the user having to do anything. Existing users can keep using the service, and points already in an account keep their original expiry dates.
• 00:00, 24 December 2026: QClaw stops operating. Every function except backup and migration is switched off.
• 24 December 2026 to 00:00, 24 March 2027: users can still sign in to the latest version of the QClaw client and download backup files under Settings, Backup and Migration.
• From 00:00, 24 March 2027: Tencent will delete all user data, except information the law requires it to keep for a set period.

The backup covers configuration, memories, agent personas and conversation records, exported as local files.

Refunds

Users with paid subscription plans or points packs that are not used up can apply for a refund through the "申请退款" (apply for refund) link at the top of the QClaw website. Refunds go back to the original payment account and are calculated in proportion to points already used, with the system's calculation final. Points received free through promotions, sign-up bonuses or referrals are not refunded.

Orders that have already been invoiced need the invoice cancelled first; the notice says that review takes about one to three working days. Questions go to qclaw@tencent.com.

Migration to WorkBuddy

The notice offers a migration path to WorkBuddy, another AI desktop assistant. The user connects a QClaw account to a WorkBuddy account on the QClaw website, chooses what data to move, receives a migration prompt, and runs it inside the QClaw client through a "WorkBuddy one-click migration assistant". Only personal WorkBuddy accounts can receive migrated data, according to the notice. Migration copies data rather than moving it, and does not stop a user from also claiming a refund. Users who complete it get 1,000 WorkBuddy points valid for one month.

What to do

• If your team uses QClaw, download a backup of each account's configuration, memories and conversation records now, and store it where your own retention rules apply. Do not rely on the window after 24 December.
• Apply for a refund of unused plans or points before shutdown, and cancel any invoices first so the refund is not held up.
• Treat WorkBuddy as a new supplier: the migration only reaches personal accounts, so review its terms and data handling before moving work data into it.
• If you published an agent or an application connector on the QClaw open platform, revoke the OAuth credentials and tokens you issued for QClaw. We found no separate notice for platform developers; the shutdown notice does not mention them.
