Vitalize raises $31m Series A to automate hospital staffing

6 October 2026: Vitalize, a San Francisco company that sells scheduling and capacity software to hospitals, has raised a $31 million Series A led by Oak HC/FT. Norwest, .406 Ventures, Constellation Ventures, Y Combinator, Rock Health Capital and the MemorialCare Innovation Fund also invested, according to the lead investor's announcement.

The platform automates workforce scheduling, capacity planning and labour management, and connects to electronic medical record and payroll systems. Vitalize says it manages millions of shifts a week across dozens of enterprise health systems and saves clinical leaders more than 2,000 hours a day. The money is meant to take it from labour management into patient throughput and capacity, the SaaS News reports.

Two customers are quoted. Dan Ireland, executive vice-president and chief nurse executive at Rochester Regional Health, says: "Within weeks of deploying Vitalize, our clinical leaders were spending 50% less time on manual staffing and scheduling." David Pereles, chief information officer at St. Luke's Health, says his system saw a 54% reduction in premium labour spend, meaning overtime and agency costs, in 12 weeks.

Co-founder and chief executive Veeraj Shah says: "We built Vitalize to move labor and capacity from manual and reactive to automated and predictive." The company was founded in 2023 by Shah and Sanketh Andhavarapu.

Vitalize competes with established healthcare workforce tools and with the scheduling modules sold inside electronic record suites. Its published results come from two named customers and are the company's own; neither comes with a description of how the hours or costs were measured, a point to ask about in any procurement.

The announcement gives no earlier funding total or revenue figure.
