Daytona raises $60m at a $1bn valuation to run computers for AI agents
20 October 2026: Daytona, which provides sandboxed computers that AI agents use to run code, browse and work with software, has raised a $60 million Series B at a $1 billion valuation, led by FirstMark Growth. The round brings its total funding to $91 million.
Not yet independently verified. The growth and retention figures are Daytona's own, and its post does not state a headquarters or founding year; the hiring locations come from Tech.eu. We will update this when it can be confirmed, and remove this note.
Who invested
The round includes angel investments from Patrick Collison of Stripe, Tobi Lütke of Shopify, Aravind Srinivas of Perplexity, Eric Yuan of Zoom, Olivier Pomel of Datadog, Adam D'Angelo of Quora and Brendan Foody of Mercor. Qualcomm Ventures, Samsung Next and Okta Ventures joined as strategic investors, with Evergreen Fund, Alumni Ventures and Torch Capital new to the company. Existing backers came back: E2VC in its fourth round, Upfront Ventures in its third, and FirstMark Capital and Pace Capital in their second.
Matt Turck of FirstMark said Daytona's breakthrough is "making 'a computer for every agent' practical". Quinn Li, head of Qualcomm Ventures, said the firm was glad to back "critical infrastructure for the agentic era."
What Daytona sells
Chief executive and co-founder Ivan Burazin calls the product an "Agent Execution Cloud": not inference or monitoring, but the execution layer of computers, browsers and storage an agent needs to do its job. The argument is that agents behave differently from the long-lived services cloud platforms were built for. Their computers must start in milliseconds, pause with their state intact, fork into parallel copies and disappear when a job ends. Daytona says it is the only provider with Linux, Windows, macOS and GPU sandboxes on one platform, so an agent can tune a CUDA kernel, test a Mac app or drive a Windows desktop in the same place.
The figures Daytona gives
The company says revenue has grown about 25 times since January, with average month-on-month net revenue retention of about 135%, meaning customers from six months ago now spend nearly three times as much in aggregate. Customers it names include model builders Meta and Cohere; data and training-environment companies Handshake, Snorkel, Surge AI, Turing, AfterQuery and Trajectory; and product companies Writer, Clay, n8n, Postman, Mintlify and bolt.new. Writer, it says, ran its own sandbox platform until it passed 20,000 sandboxes a day, then provisioned 300,000 in a single month on Daytona.
Burazin previously built the Codeanywhere cloud editor and the Shift developer conference and was chief developer experience officer at Infobip. Daytona is hiring on site in San Francisco, and Tech.eu reports recruitment in Croatia and Singapore as well. Our DevOps software category lists 16 products.
