Polygrade raises $6.3m seed for AI agents that handle warranty claims

6 October 2026: Polygrade, a Toronto company building AI agents for warranty claims, has come out of stealth with a $6.3 million seed round. The company says Construct Capital, American Family Ventures and Nine Four Ventures invested. BetaKit converts the round to about $9 million Canadian and lists Hustle Fund, Room and Pillar among the backers as well.

Polygrade was previously called ProPay and changed its name this week; its CEO wrote that the new name reflects a shift from fixing payment friction to running warranty claims from start to finish. Its software uses task-specific agents across five stages of a claim: first notice of loss, pre-dispatch triage, authorization, parts procurement and contractor payment. It works inside a warranty company's existing systems rather than replacing them.

The company names Fidelity National Home Warranty and Cinch Home Services as customers, and Encompass, UED, Sibi and Marcone as supplier partners. It is headquartered in Toronto, with additional offices in St. George, Utah and Austin, Texas.

The founders are David Steckel (CEO), Eui Chung (CTO) and Kaustubh Vongole (head of product). BetaKit notes that Steckel and Vongole worked at Setter, which Thumbtack acquired in 2020, and that the team has Sears Home Services experience.

Polygrade says the funding will expand its forward deployed engineering, go-to-market and partner enablement teams. Construct Capital's post argues that a claim passes through homeowners, warranty companies, contractors, parts suppliers and manufacturers with manual coordination at every step. Both Construct and the company see room beyond home warranty, in extended warranty, OEM warranty and equipment breakdown insurance.
