PlannerPal raises $6m led by Mercia for AI in financial advice

7 October 2026: PlannerPal, a UK company selling AI workflow software to financial advice and wealth management firms, has raised $6 million (£4.3 million) in a round led by Mercia Ventures. Ada Ventures, which led PlannerPal's pre-seed round in February 2024, took part again, along with a group of strategic fintech investors and angels. The announcement does not name the stage of the round.

Not yet independently verified. The first source is the lead investor's own post; PlannerPal's site carries no copy of its own. The round's stage is not stated, and the customer figures are PlannerPal's. We will update this when it can be confirmed, and remove this note.

The money will pay for more engineers and product staff, support the rollout to customers and speed up work on what PlannerPal calls client intelligence. That is the next step beyond its first product, which captures client meetings, produces the paperwork and updates the systems advisers use every day. The company now connects information held in conversations, documents and core systems so that firms end up with better client data.

Mercia's post gives the company's own usage figures: more than 250 UK advice firms, including 20% of the UK's top 20 wealth managers, supporting firms responsible for around £150 billion of client assets. Named customers include Canaccord Wealth, ValidPath and Amber River. PlannerPal is the only AI partner chosen for the Iress Partnership and can be launched from inside Iress Xplan with single sign-on. It also integrates with Intelliflo, Curo, Plannr, Microsoft Teams, Zoom and SharePoint.

The company has recently moved into UK mortgages, with Charles Cameron, described as one of the country's largest independent mortgage brokers, as a new client.

Chief executive and co-founder Mark Whitcroft said: "We don't believe the answer is another disconnected AI tool sitting outside the core systems of the business." He added that PlannerPal has deliberately focused on the UK and that the funding lets it bring the same approach to mortgages.

Adam Lovell, investment director at Mercia Ventures, said advice firms choosing a long-term AI partner want an experienced team whose technology works with their existing systems and client data.
