Mecka AI raises $60M Series B to supply robot training data

7 October 2026: Mecka AI has raised a $60 million Series B led by Sequoia Capital to scale what it calls the data and deployment layer for physical AI: recorded human movement that robot makers use to train their models. The company, based in Toronto and New York City, announced the round on its own site on Wednesday.

Not yet independently verified. Revenue figures are the company's own and have not been checked against any filing. We will update this when it can be confirmed, and remove this note.

NVIDIA, M12 (Microsoft's venture fund), Qualcomm Ventures and Samsung are new investors. Kindred Ventures, Framework Ventures and Neo, which backed earlier rounds, continued. Angels named in the announcement include DoorDash co-founder and chief executive Tony Xu, former ServiceNow and Snowflake chief executive Frank Slootman and Milan Kovac, formerly head of Tesla's Optimus programme.

Mecka says the money goes to three things: its data infrastructure, its internal research lab and a commercial robot deployment business. The company builds its own multi-sensor capture equipment, runs capture fleets that record people doing tasks in homes and commercial settings, and uses computer vision and multimodal models to turn the recordings into structured training data. It says it supplies several leading robotics labs and multiple large technology companies, and also acts as a robotics integrator for enterprises without their own robotics teams.

The company puts its run-rate revenue above $100 million in June 2026, a few months after it began operating, and projects $300 million by the end of the year. Its founders' letter makes the case in one line: "Robots don't lack intelligence. They lack experience."

BetaKit reports that the company is two years old, that three of its four co-founders are Canadian and that most of its staff are in Toronto. It earlier announced $60 million in Series A financing, made up of $25 million last November and a $35 million extension that closed over the summer, with backers including Framework, Menlo Ventures, SV Angel and Kindred.

Sequoia partners Anas Biad and James Flynn published their own note on the investment the same day. They say winning requires research, hardware, global operations, software and deployment working together at scale.
