Pixel Systems raises $3.1m seed to catch AI-faked documents

29 October 2026: Pixel Systems, a Stockholm start-up that detects AI-generated and manipulated images, documents and receipts, says it has raised $3.1 million in a seed round led by UV-Ventures. The company was founded only months ago and says it reached its first $100,000 in contracted recurring revenue three weeks after its commercial launch. It will spend the money on sales and on the technology.

Not yet independently verified. The round and its figures rest on the company's release; Arctic Startup names the lead investor and states the detection rate differently, and we have used the company's wording. We will update this when it can be confirmed, and remove this note.

Evidence that costs nothing to fake

The company's argument is that the documents behind a payout are now cheap to forge. "Generative AI has made it extremely cheap to fabricate evidence," said Robel Efrem, co-founder and chief executive. "The problem is that almost every digital process still rests on the assumption that what people submit is authentic."

Its product, Pixel, is sold as a single API. It combines Pixel Systems' own digital forensics with outside verification techniques, so a customer sends a photo, a receipt or a document and gets one verdict back. The company says the method works even when the content carries no watermark or marking from the model that made it, and reports a detection rate of 99.9 percent for AI-generated and manipulated material in its own internal tests.

Insurers, fintechs and refund desks first

Pixel Systems names the businesses where a submitted file triggers money moving: insurance claims with altered photos, fintech and audit work with fake receipts and invoices, e-commerce refunds and professional services. Those are the buyers who today rely on manual review or on fraud tools built for transaction data rather than for the attachments that come with a claim.

Nora Bavey, general partner at UV-Ventures, said verifying digital information "will become as natural a part of tomorrow's infrastructure as cybersecurity is today". The company describes its team as senior engineers, AI specialists and competitive programmers, and works from Norrlandsgatan in central Stockholm.

Where it sits in our catalogue

Our catalogue lists 12 products in financial fraud detection software, most of them built around payments and transactions rather than the documents and images Pixel inspects. The release gives no other investors, no valuation and no customer names.
