The round

According to the announcement by Pandektes' co-founder Casper Laursen, the €13.5 million Series A is led by Alstin Capital, with participation from PROfounders, Scale Capital and existing investors. The company says the money will accelerate its plan to build that infrastructure and make legal information more capable and more accessible.

What the company does

Pandektes collects, classifies and organises legal documents, such as legislation, case law and decisions, from several jurisdictions, and makes them searchable with AI. Law firms, companies and public bodies use it as a research tool, with answers that point to their sources, and developers can reach the same data through an API as legal infrastructure for their own products. Recent additions include a Word add-in and a redaction tool for anonymising documents. The company says more than 500 law firms, companies and public institutions use it.

Why it matters for buyers

Generative AI in legal work is only as good as the sources behind it, and lawyers need to see where an answer comes from. Vendors that own clean, classified legal data across jurisdictions have an advantage over general AI tools. For buyers, coverage and currency of the data matter more than the interface.

What to check

  • Which jurisdictions and document types are covered, and how quickly new decisions appear.
  • Whether every answer links to its source and how hallucinations are prevented.
  • How your own documents and queries are handled, stored and protected.
  • API terms if you plan to build on the data.
  • Pricing per user, per firm or per API call.
