Software takeovers on 30 September and 1 October 2026: Opus 2 buys Bundledocs, Xopero buys Vigil Guard

1 October 2026 — Two more software acquisitions closed at the turn of the quarter, both announced by the buyers. Neither states a price. They follow the five IT-services deals of the same two days in our earlier round-up.

Not yet independently verified. Both deals rest on the buyers’ own announcements; we did not read statements from the companies acquired, and no independent report was checked. We will update this when it can be confirmed, and remove this note.

Opus 2 acquires Bundledocs

Opus 2, the London-based legal-technology company whose software is used to run commercial disputes, hearings and arbitrations, announced on 1 October 2026 that it has acquired Bundledocs, which it describes as a developer of "cloud-built, AI-ready collaborative document bundling software". Bundling, assembling the indexed and paginated sets of documents that courts and tribunals require, is a staple task for litigation teams and barristers' chambers. Opus 2 calls it its third acquisition in five years and says the deal will help it serve law firms working across several jurisdictions.

For Bundledocs customers: ask whether Bundledocs stays a separate product with its own pricing, or is to be folded into the Opus 2 platform, and on what timetable. Check where your bundles are hosted and whether the data-processing terms change with the new owner.

Xopero Software acquires Vigil Guard

Xopero Software, the Polish backup and data-protection vendor behind GitProtect.io, announced on 30 September 2026 that it has acquired Vigil Guard, a company behind "a proprietary platform designed to monitor, control, and secure interactions with AI systems". Xopero says the aim is to combine data resilience with real-time protection against prompt-injection attacks and leaks of sensitive data through AI assistants and autonomous agents. It names developer and enterprise tools such as Jira, Confluence and code repositories as the places where company data is pasted into prompts.

For customers of either: the products are complementary rather than overlapping, so a forced migration is unlikely. Ask whether Vigil Guard will be sold on its own or only bundled, and whether its contracts move to Xopero.

What to check after any vendor acquisition

  • Who is your contracting party now, and do your terms, prices and service levels carry over unchanged?
  • Is the product's roadmap and support life confirmed in writing by the new owner?
  • Do your data-processing terms change? A new parent can mean new sub-processors or group data transfers, which may need your consent.
  • Put a review date in the calendar three months after the change of control.
