Plane Agents

Plane is an open-source project-management tool, and Plane Agents lets an AI agent be assigned work items in the same way as a person. Plane announced the feature on its own blog on 18 September 2026, and a launch leaderboard brought it to a wider audience four days later.

Main features

• Assignees and mentions: an agent can be added to a work item like a teammate, or tagged in a comment, and then reads the item and its context.
• Triage: built-in agents classify, label and route incoming requests, and handle assigning owners.
• Blockers and status: agents track blockers and post status updates.
• Duplicates and drafts: Plane AI flags likely duplicates before a work item is created, and writes first-draft briefs as pages.

Clients

Teams that chose Plane to keep their work data on their own infrastructure. Plane publishes guidance on running agents in self-hosted deployments.
