Salesforce agrees to buy AI analytics firm Loops for Tableau
12 October 2026: Salesforce has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Loops, an AI analytics company, and plans to bring its technology and staff into Tableau once the deal closes. Salesforce expects completion in early November, within its fiscal year 2027, subject to customary closing conditions. No price has been disclosed.
Not yet independently verified. Only Salesforce has announced the deal; Loops' own site does not yet mention it, and neither page states where Loops is based. We will update this when it can be confirmed, and remove this note.
What Loops sells
Loops describes itself as an AI-powered analytics provider that uses causal models to find product and marketing opportunities. Salesforce's announcement puts it more plainly: the platform tracks business performance, explains why key metrics move and flags ways to improve them. It can be driven from Slack and email, where it monitors KPIs and surfaces trends and anomalies.
Loops' own site names its main product as Scout, an analytics agent that answers questions, watches KPIs and sends alerts and summaries to Slack, Microsoft Teams or email.
What Salesforce says it will do with it
Salesforce says it intends to bring Loops' technology and specialised talent into Tableau after closing. Mark Recher, EVP and GM of Tableau, is quoted as saying: "Tableau's mission has been helping people see, understand and act on data." Tom Laufer, CEO and co-founder of Loops, says: "We built Loops around a simple idea: analytics should help businesses understand what drives their results."
The announcement does not say whether Loops will keep selling as a separate product, what happens to existing Loops customers' contracts, or how the capability will be packaged and priced inside Tableau. It also gives no headcount for Loops.
What Tableau and Loops customers can plan around
Until the deal closes, the two companies remain separate and nothing changes in either contract. For Tableau customers the signal is direction: Salesforce is adding an agent that explains why a metric moved rather than only charting it. Questions about licensing, which Slack or Teams integrations are included and where the data is processed are worth putting to a Tableau account manager before the early November completion window.
Loops customers should watch for notices after closing. None of the usual follow-ups, such as a new contracting entity, updated data processing terms or a date for the standalone product, has been announced.
This is Salesforce's second agreed AI acquisition in a week: it agreed to buy the customer research platform Listen Labs, which we reported on 7 October.
