France’s EcoIDEN call for greener data centres and digital equipment: first cut-off 29 October 2026, open until December 2027

2 October 2026 — France's EcoIDEN call for projects, part of the France 2030 strategy for eco-responsible digital technology, funds demonstrators and industrialisation of technologies that reduce the environmental impact of data centres and speed up the circular economy of digital equipment. It is run by the Directorate-General for Enterprise (DGE), the Commissariat général au développement durable and the SGPI, and operated by ADEME. The call opened on 20 July 2026. Its first cut-off is 29 October 2026, and it runs until 9 December 2027.

Not yet independently verified. Dates and scope come from the DGE’s own page. Project sizes, aid rates and the pre-submission meeting rule come from a consultancy’s summary of the ADEME call text, because ADEME’s page refused our reader; check them in the call text before applying. The DGE’s listing card gives different dates (30 September 2026 to 15 June 2027) from its call page, which we follow. We will update this when it can be confirmed, and remove this note.

What it funds

According to the DGE, projects may cover more efficient cooling, reuse of waste heat and energy supply for data centres, and eco-design, repair, reuse and refurbishment at scale for digital equipment.

According to FV Conseil Innovation's summary of the ADEME call text:

  • Who: companies of any size, alone or with research bodies, public establishments or local authorities, anywhere in France.
  • Size: project budgets of at least €2 million (€500,000 for non-profit public-interest and social-economy bodies) and normally no more than €5 million, lasting up to three years, with at least €150,000 per SME partner or €200,000 per large-company partner.
  • Aid rates: up to 80% for some industrial research by small firms, 60% for collaborative experimental development, and 60% for environmental-protection investment by SMEs.
  • A mandatory meeting with ADEME at least one month before filing. The same summary dates that meeting for the first cut-off as 25 September 2026, so new applicants may need to aim for a later cut-off.

Who should look at it

  • Data-centre operators and colocation providers in France planning cooling or heat-recovery projects.
  • Cooling, power-management and energy-software vendors that can join consortia as technology providers.
  • Refurbishers, repair networks and IT asset-disposal firms working on equipment life extension at scale.

What to do

Read the call text on ADEME's site, request the pre-submission meeting now, and pick the cut-off that leaves time for a full consortium file. The call stays open to December 2027, so a well-prepared later submission is better than a rushed first one.
