22 September 2026 — Spott, a company based in Leuven, Belgium, announced on 22 September 2026 that it has raised $21 million in a Series A round. It says its total funding is now $24.2 million. EU-Startups reported the amount as about €18.3 million.

The round

  • Amount and stage: $21 million, Series A, from Spott's own announcement.
  • Lead investor: Balderton Capital.
  • Other investors named: Base10, Y Combinator and Fortino.
  • Use of the money: to "expand globally, go deeper on enterprise, and keep leading the recruitment industry on AI", in the company's words.
  • Footprint: besides Leuven, the company's page mentions offices in New York and Sydney.

What the company does

Spott builds software for recruitment and staffing agencies rather than for in-house hiring teams. It combines an applicant tracking system, which manages candidates through each vacancy, with a CRM for the agency's client relationships, and uses AI throughout: parsing CVs, matching candidates to roles, drafting outreach and keeping records up to date from emails and calls.

Why it matters for buyers

Agency recruiters spend much of their day on data entry across separate systems. Software built for agencies, with AI handling the record-keeping, competes with long-established agency platforms. For agencies, a funded challenger can mean faster product development, but also a migration project.

What to check

  • Agency owners should ask how candidate and client data is migrated from their current system, including notes, documents and placement history.
  • Compliance leads should check GDPR handling for candidate data: lawful basis, retention periods and how candidates can ask for deletion, especially where AI processes CVs.
  • Operations should test integrations with job boards, email, calendars and the back-office or payroll tools used for contractors.
