Ravical raises $17m to spread accounting firms' expertise with AI

29 October 2026: Ravical, which sells an AI platform to accounting and tax firms, says it has raised a $17 million seed round led by MMC Ventures. Existing investors Lakestar and Pitchdrive took part and Shapers joined as a new investor. The company says more than 100 accounting firms across Europe already build on its platform, and it will use the money to grow in the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany, continue across the rest of Europe and enter the US.

Not yet independently verified. Not yet independently verified. The round rests on Ravical's own announcement, dated 29 October in its dateline though the page metadata says 26 October; a $25 million funding total appears only in trade press and is not used here. We will update this when it can be confirmed, and remove this note.

The pitch: the firm's know-how, not one adviser's

Ravical's argument is that accounting firms have grown by hiring people and selling what those people know, and that model is under strain: demand keeps rising, fewer graduates join the profession, and clients can now get expert answers from AI themselves. The company cites its own research finding that 70 per cent of UK SMEs act on AI advice without consulting their accountant.

Its answer is to capture how a firm's best people judge and advise, and have AI carry that method out across every client. "Every firm will use AI, so the real question is who controls it," said Joris Van Der Gucht, Ravical's chief executive. Firm leaders are meant to see opportunities and risks across the whole client base, so the firm sells more to the clients it already has rather than chasing new ones.

Customers quoted in the release describe what that looks like in practice. Chris Reeve, owner of the UK firm Gascoynes, says complex inheritance tax and R&D claims used to go to outside specialists and are now handled in-house, with tax planning fees "up 49% year on year". The Dutch firm Facet says it scans its client base for advice clients have not asked for yet, such as a financing worth revisiting. Another Dutch firm, Hein Koning, says Ravical works from its own CRM, financial software and databases, so answers rest on each client's actual figures. These are the customers' own figures as quoted by Ravical.

Founders from Silverfin

Ravical was founded by Van Der Gucht (CEO), Ken Bastiaensen (CTO) and Benjamin Vandermarliere (CPO). Van Der Gucht previously co-founded Silverfin, a cloud platform for accounting firms that Ravical says is used by more than 1,000 firms in 18 countries. The announcement carries a London dateline.

Mina Samaan, general partner at MMC Ventures, compared the opportunity with legal technology, where products such as Harvey and Legora have changed how law firms work, and said most AI startups in accounting build "point solutions for a single task or workflow". MMC's bet is on a platform that spans the firm rather than one task.

Where it sits among tools we list

Ravical sells to the firms rather than to their clients, which puts it beside practice software rather than bookkeeping tools. Our accounting practice management software category lists 11 products and tax practice management software 16, and our directory holds 7,353 accounting firm listings, the market Ravical is selling into. The company has not said how many staff it has, what it charges, or how many of its 100-plus firms are outside Belgium and the Netherlands, where its founders built Silverfin.
