Casap raises $56M Series B for AI agents that handle card disputes

28 October 2026: Casap, a New York company whose AI agents investigate and resolve card disputes for banks and credit unions, says it has raised a $56 million Series B led by Base10 Partners. Experian and Synchrony joined as strategic investors, and existing backers Emergence Capital and Lightspeed Venture Partners took part again.

The company calls the round oversubscribed. It brings total funding to $90 million and comes just over a year after a $25 million Series A, a period in which Casap says revenue grew tenfold, more than double its own target.

Agents that work a dispute from intake to recovery

Casap's agents take a disputed transaction through intake, investigation, decision, evidence collection, recovery and the messages to the consumer. They apply the institution's own policies, work inside the systems it already runs, and hand a case to a person when a decision needs human judgement; every step leaves an evidence record the institution can audit. Casap pairs the software with forward-deployed teams that redesign the operation alongside the customer.

The company says it works with more than 100 banks, credit unions, fintechs and processors, and gives these results across them:

  • a 96% chargeback win rate, against an industry average it puts at 60%;
  • resolution time cut from as long as 90 days to 8;
  • 73% of dispute cases resolved by its agents, with human oversight kept;
  • human handling time cut from 45 minutes to one or two minutes per case.

"Today we're cutting fraud losses in half while resolving disputes in days instead of months," said Shanthi Shanmugam, Casap's chief executive and co-founder.

What Experian and Synchrony bring

The two strategic investors are also partners. Experian plans to work with Casap on first-party fraud and consumer-intent signals, combining Casap's view of transaction and dispute behaviour with its own identity and risk data to tell a genuine dispute from what the industry calls friendly fraud. Synchrony, the consumer-finance company, says its investment backs its push to resolve disputes faster with agentic AI.

"Casap has shown that agentic AI technology can change that tradeoff," said Adeyemi Ajao, managing partner at Base10, referring to the old choice between the cost of complex work and its quality.

From disputes to collections and claims

The money goes into the platform and into moving beyond disputes and fraud into collections, claims and other complex exceptions. Casap was founded by Shanmugam, formerly of Robinhood, and Saisi Peters, formerly of Chime; Primary is also among its backers.
