The G6 is the electric coupe SUV for drivers who want fast charging above all, with a fastback roofline and a comfortable cabin. The global site calls it the New G6, and the design centres on a full-width light bar, a fastback silhouette with a long front overhang and an aerodynamic ducktail spoiler. A Black Edition adds black trim, smoked alloy wheels and black calipers.
The car runs on a full-domain 800V high-voltage silicon carbide platform with the XHP 3.0 thermal management system. XPeng states that the 5C battery goes from 10 to 80 percent in 12 minutes, and in its own test the G6 RWD Long Range gained 427 km of charge in 15 minutes. These are internal test results and daily use will differ. The battery has a triple-layer shield, described as a 4-3-4 design, plus real-time fault detection with automatic circuit isolation. Front and rear giga-casting reduces body weight, and the battery is built into the structure.
Electrically adjustable Nappa leather seats offer ventilation, heating and massage, with up to 12-way adjustment, memory and full recline with a footrest. The rear seats recline from 27 to 38.4 degrees with heating. The 2.12 square metre panoramic skylight has silver-plated glass, and all windows use double-layer laminated glass. An 18-speaker XOPERA 2.0 audio system offers studio, concert and theatre sound modes, and the cabin has a 2.4K floating touchscreen and a digital driver cluster. Front double-wishbone suspension is fitted.
XPILOT ASSIST uses a front binocular camera and a rearview camera and can recognise 49 types of obstacle, static and dynamic. Voice control works across the cabin, including from the rear seats. Over-the-air updates arrive over Wi-Fi or 4G and can be scheduled for later, and the XPENG App is available on the main phone app stores.
