TrustList summary

If long motorway journeys and short charging stops matter more to you than boot size, the EV6 is the Kia to look at. It is an electric crossover with a long wheelbase and a low roofline, built on the Electric Global Modular Platform and its 800V electrical system. That is what lets it recharge so quickly: Kia quotes 10 to 80 percent in 18 minutes from selected public stations, and up to 361 miles of range on the WLTP cycle.

Range, batteries and charging

Three powertrains are offered: Standard Range rear-wheel drive, Long Range rear-wheel drive and Long Range all-wheel drive. The Standard Range car has a 63.0 kWh battery and covers up to 265 miles. The Long Range pack is 84.0 kWh. With it, the rear-wheel-drive car on 19 inch wheels reaches up to 361 miles and the all-wheel-drive car up to 339 miles. To get the 18-minute charge the car must use an 800V charger delivering at least 260 kW, so check what your regular chargers can supply. Electricity consumption is quoted at 15.9 to 17.7 kWh per 100 km.

Inside and on the road

The cabin has two curved 12.3 inch displays facing the driver and uses upcycled and plant-based materials. Premium relaxation seats are available on the GT-Line and GT-Line S, and fingerprint recognition for driver profiles comes only on the GT-Line S. The wheels are 19 inch or 20 inch.

Trims and price

The UK range has three trims: Air, GT-Line and GT-Line S. Prices start at £45,635 for the Air. Highway Driving Assist 2.0, Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist and Remote Smart Parking Assist 2.0 are reserved for the GT-Line S.

Safety, software and warranty

Euro NCAP rated the EV6 at five stars in 2022. Standard aids include Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 1.5 with junction turning. The Kia App adds remote battery and climate control, Last Mile Navigation and real-time traffic, and Kia Connect services are free for seven years. The manufacturer warranty is seven years or 100,000 miles, and the battery is covered for eight years or 100,000 miles on cars registered from 1 January 2024, with a 70 percent capacity guarantee.
