TrustList summary

Price is the argument Chevrolet makes for the 2027 Bolt: it starts at $27,600 for the LT, and the company calls it the most affordable EV in America, a claim on its own US site. The RS trim, offered on the Bolt for the first time, starts at $31,600 and adds a unique grille, gloss black roof rails, 17 inch black wheels and black seating with red stitching. Both carry a 210 horsepower electric motor.

A new battery that charges to 100%

Chevrolet quotes 262 EPA-estimated miles of range and a GM-estimated 25 minutes for a 10 to 80% charge on a DC public fast charger, which it says is more than 2.5 times faster than the earlier Bolt EUV. The charge port is NACS as standard, so the car can use Tesla Superchargers as well as most other public chargers. Its owner guidance differs from most electric cars: Chevrolet says the Bolt should be regularly charged to 100% rather than 80%, so that the range display stays accurate and fast charging reaches its best speed. The battery carries an 8 year or 100,000 mile limited warranty, and one pedal driving is included.

Super Cruise at the bottom of the range

Super Cruise, General Motors' hands-free driver assistance, is available on the Bolt, and Chevrolet says that makes it the most affordable vehicle to offer hands-free driving. It is an option with its own terms rather than something every car has switched on. Every Bolt comes with more than 20 standard safety and driver assistance features.

Screens and Google built-in

The cabin has an 11.3 inch touchscreen and an 11 inch driver information centre, with Google built-in for apps and navigation. The interior has been redesigned from the earlier car, and there is covered storage for cargo kept out of sight.
