This page ranks accounting firms in Ireland, from long-established Dublin practices to small bookkeeping and outsourced accounts services. TrustList lists 74 of them, and 15 earned a rank number in the Q4 2026 edition. Among the ranked, two hold a professional accreditation and 13 state a founding date, from the 1940s to the 2010s. Dublin is the most common base, with six of the ranked firms, and the rest are spread across Swords, Cavan, Dundrum, Dún Laoghaire and Rathfarnham.

How to choose accounting firms

1. Check the professional body
Irish accountants are usually members of Chartered Accountants Ireland, ACCA, CPA Ireland or the Institute of Incorporated Public Accountants. Ask which body the firm belongs to and confirm it on that body's own register.
2. Ask who can sign audits
Statutory audit work needs a registered auditor. If you need an audit, or an audit exemption report, ask which partner signs it and which body supervises that registration.
3. Be clear about Revenue work
Ask whether the firm files your VAT, payroll and corporation tax returns and deals with Revenue correspondence for you, and what happens if a deadline is missed.
4. Match the firm to your size
A sole-trader practice, a mid-sized firm and a network member suit different jobs. Ask who will do your work day to day and whether they have clients like you.
5. Agree fees in writing
Ask for a written letter of engagement setting out what is covered, whether fees are fixed or hourly, and what extra work such as catch-up filings or queries would cost.
6. Check software and access
Ask which bookkeeping software the firm supports, whether you keep your own login and how your records are returned if you change accountant.

How is this ranking worked out?

The order comes from what each firm publishes and what has been verified about it, and never from payment:

Profile completeness: the details a buyer needs to judge a firm — what it does, who it serves, how it prices, who it has worked for
Earned trust: verification, awards and the other checks a firm has actually passed
Client reviews, where they exist: the rating is smoothed, so one five-star review cannot outrank a firm with a hundred good ones, and volume counts with diminishing returns

A firm near the top is the best-documented and best-verified one we hold, which is not the same claim as the best one to hire. Use the list to build a shortlist, then check the firms yourself.
