The business is registered
We match your legal name and registration number against the company register where you are registered, and check the company is active.
You run this listing
We confirm you work for the business: an email at your website’s domain, a DNS record, or a reply from the contact details your website publishes.
The website matches
The site on your listing is live, belongs to the same business and describes the same services or product.
You deliver what you sell
You list three to ten recent clients. TrustList emails three of them, picked at random, and asks what you delivered and when. Published evidence (case studies, app store pages, reviews elsewhere) counts too.
Nothing adverse
No insolvency, regulatory action or undisclosed dispute, and no sign of written, bought or undisclosed incentivised reviews on TrustList.
Each check is recorded against a fixed checklist, so the outcome never depends on who picked up your application. All five must pass for the badge.

Before you apply
- What does it cost?
- Nothing. The badge is only worth something if buyers believe it can’t be bought, so buying a plan, a sponsored spot or anything else from us changes nothing about the decision.
- Does vetting move my listing up the rankings?
- It helps in two published ways, and it never buys a position. A vetted listing earns a rank number (without anything checked, a listing is shown as listed, not ranked), and vetting counts for 8 of the 100 TrustList Score points for service providers and 7 for software. Approval also verifies your registration and client references as answers. Everything else in the score is the same for everyone: see how TrustList ranks.
- What happens if you can’t vet us?
- We tell you why. Your listing stays on TrustList exactly as it was, and you can apply again after 30 days.
- Will you contact our clients?
- Yes. You list three to ten, and we email three of them, picked at random so nobody can put forward only their happiest client. We ask what you delivered and when, whether you kept to the dates and whether they would work with you again. You see only what they delivered and when; the rest stays with us. Your client is anonymous unless they choose to be named on your profile.
- Can the badge be taken away?
- Yes: when the year ends without a renewal, or if we find that an answer was false.
- What about sponsorship?
- Separate and paid. A sponsored spot puts a card marked Sponsored above a ranking; it never changes the ranked order and has no bearing on vetting.
