Dream Labs raises a $90m seed to sell a robot brain through an API

Dream Labs is a San Francisco robotics AI company that sells Dream-1, a general model for controlling many kinds of robot, through a public API, fine-tuning service and browser-based Robot Playground.
Dream Labs is a San Francisco company that builds a general-purpose "robot brain" rather than robots themselves. Its model, Dream-1, is meant to run on many different robot bodies, tasks and environments. The company describes itself as the brain and not the body, and says its aim is to make robotics far more accessible in everyday life. It announced a $90 million seed round on 19 October 2026.
Dream-1 takes camera images, the robot's current state and a task as input, and returns the actions the robot should carry out. Dream Labs calls it a World Action Model and says its team introduced that idea in a paper called DreamZero, released in February 2026. According to the site, Dream-1 runs on the bimanual YAM arm and on popular low-cost arms, handles new tasks and scenes without extra training, and can be adapted to a custom robot body with a few hundred demonstrations.
The company sells access in three ways. The Dream API lets developers call the model from their own software. A fine-tuning service lets customers upload demonstrations for an existing or new robot body, after which Dream Labs trains the model and returns a model ID. Robot Playground is a browser tool for prompting a real robot without owning one.
Dream Labs targets robot makers, hardware companies and developers who want a ready-made model instead of training their own. Its site lists early partners including ROBOTIS, Unitree, AgileX Robotics, Trossen Robotics, AgiBot, ARX and Galaxea Dynamics, among others. In its funding announcement the company said it works with more than 20 hardware partners and that the robots involved cost between $2,000 and $10,000. The site offers to discuss running Dream-1 on partners' own hardware.
The site describes a small team in San Francisco whose members come from NVIDIA, Google DeepMind, Ai2, Toyota Research Institute, Stanford, UC Berkeley and Georgia Tech. According to the 19 October 2026 release, the company was founded in 2026 by former leads of NVIDIA's GR00T research, and Joel Jang is chief executive and co-founder. The $90 million seed was led by B Capital with Kindred Ventures. The company says it is hiring.
