RapidCanvas raises $29m to put field AI engineers in mid-size firms

16 October 2026: RapidCanvas, an Austin company that builds custom AI applications for enterprises and stays responsible for how they perform, says it has raised $29 million in a Series B round led by Vertex Ventures SEA & India, with Hitachi Ventures joining. Existing investors Accel, Peak XV Partners, Valley Capital Partners and Titanium Ventures also took part, bringing total funding to $52.5 million.

Not yet independently verified. The founding year and the earlier Series A come from Entrackr and Inc42, not from the company's release; the revenue and customer figures are the company's own. We will update this when it can be confirmed, and remove this note.

A platform sold with engineers attached

The company calls its model the Hybrid Approach: field AI engineers learn a customer's processes, design and build the AI application, and remain accountable for its results after delivery, while the work runs on RapidCanvas's own platform at subscription pricing. The platform has three products. The Enterprise Context Engine captures how a business process works, from requirements and tacit knowledge to data schemas and decision history, and the customer owns that context. The Visual Development Canvas is where engineers build, drawing on a skills library the company says gives each new solution a 60% head start from tested code. The Operational Harness manages and governs solutions once they are in production.

RapidCanvas says annual recurring revenue grew eightfold over the past six quarters, that more than 40% of its customers run several AI use cases in production, and that more than 75 enterprises in manufacturing, financial services, retail, business services and infrastructure have made 1.4 million AI-led decisions with its applications so far in 2026.

Aimed at the $100m to $10bn company

The target market is enterprises with $100 million to $10 billion in revenue that have AI budgets and board mandates but no proven route to results. The company says it spoke to more than 400 business leaders and found most expect a return on AI within six to 12 months, while very few have moved beyond pilots. "AI can be the great equalizer, but so far its biggest wins have gone to the Fortune 100," said Rahul Pangam, co-founder and chief executive.

Piyush Kharbanda, general partner at Vertex Ventures SEA & India, said: "Most enterprises are still searching for real returns on their AI spend." Radhika Ananth, head of India and investment director at Hitachi Ventures, described the appeal as a shift "from services economics toward software economics".

Private equity partners, and engineers in three countries

The money goes on go-to-market teams and on a wider network of private equity and advisory partners, who offer the service to their portfolio companies and clients. RapidCanvas will also grow its field engineering team across the US, Brazil and India, and invest in all three products: the context engine, the skills library and governance in the harness.

According to Entrackr, the company was founded in 2021 by Pangam and Uttam Phalnikar, who previously built Simility, which PayPal acquired, and its last round was a $16 million Series A led by Peak XV in December 2024.
