Avante raises $30m Series A for AI agents that run benefits work

27 October 2026: Avante, which builds AI software for the teams that run employee benefits at large companies, says it has raised a $30 million Series A led by Frist Cressey Ventures. Sorenson Capital, Hearst Ventures and Morgan Stanley Next Level Fund joined as new investors and FUSE invested again, bringing the total raised to $40 million.

Not yet independently verified. This rests on the chief executive's own post. Customer counts, renewals and the employer results are Avante's figures, and the Seattle base comes from press coverage, not the company's own pages. We will update this when it can be confirmed, and remove this note.

Chief executive and co-founder Rohan D'Souza announced the round on 27 October, a week after the company released Ava Agents in beta.

A team that spends trillions with spreadsheets

D'Souza's argument is that benefits teams are small, carry large budgets and have been badly served by software. He puts the money they oversee at about $2 trillion a year in the US and $5 trillion worldwide, managed across dozens of vendors, thousands of pages of plan documents and rules that vary by state and country, mostly with spreadsheets, email and PDFs.

The pressure is rising. He notes that large employers are projecting a median 9.2 percent increase in health care costs for 2027, and that many benefits teams are absorbing it in the middle of open enrolment.

Ava, Carly and the new agents

Avante's products are Ava, an assistant for benefits teams, and Carly, which answers employees' own questions about their cover. Ava Agents, now in beta, take on recurring benefits work and return finished outputs for the team to review.

The company gives two customer results. At Samsung Semiconductor, it says, 66 percent more employees and dependents found and used mental health support already in their plan; at Real Chemistry, 83 percent of the US workforce engages with Avante. It works with advisers and brokers including Gallagher, OneDigital, Segal Benz, Howden and USI Insurance Services.

Growth since launch

Avante says it has grown to more than 70 customers in the 18 months since launch, including several Fortune 500 and Global 2000 companies, with nearly five times as many customers as a year ago, and that every customer that has come up for renewal has renewed. It now supports more than 385,000 employees and family members.

The round goes to three things, D'Souza writes: a global product so multinational teams see their whole programme in one view, agents across the full benefits lifecycle that flag issues early, and shared infrastructure for employers, advisers, vendors and employees. Our catalogue lists 11 products in benefits administration software, most of them enrolment and administration systems rather than AI layers on top of them.
