Freshworks buys Robusta, maker of the HolmesGPT incident agent

Robusta, founded in 2021, rebuilt its Kubernetes troubleshooting tool around an AI agent; it is the second company Freshworks has agreed to buy in October, after Torii, and no price has been given.

Freshworks buys Robusta, maker of the HolmesGPT incident agent

28 October 2026: Robusta, whose AI agent HolmesGPT investigates why production systems break, is joining Freshworks, the company behind the Freshservice IT service management product. Robusta announced the deal on its own blog; neither side has given a price, and Freshworks had not published its own release when we checked. It is the second acquisition Freshworks has agreed this month, after Torii, which tracks SaaS and AI spending.

Not yet independently verified. Not yet independently verified. This rests on Robusta's own blog post; Freshworks had not published a release when we checked, and no price, closing date or plan for the open-source projects has been stated. We will update this when it can be confirmed, and remove this note.

From Kubernetes alerts to an AI investigator

Robusta started in 2021 to help engineers find out faster why production is broken. Its first product focused on Kubernetes: the open-source Robusta project, MIT-licensed, groups and enriches Prometheus alerts and can run automatic fixes. The company then, in its own words, decided to "bet the company on Agentic AI" and rebuilt the platform as HolmesGPT, an agent that pulls logs, metrics and events to explain an alert and suggest a cause.

HolmesGPT is open source under the Apache 2.0 licence and is listed on its repository as a CNCF Sandbox project, with about 3,700 stars when we read it. Robusta also sells a hosted version, and its site says the company is SOC 2 compliant.

The post describes the problem it had been working on most recently: running AI investigations on every alert was too expensive for large customers, so many skipped the long tail of low-priority alerts where early warnings hide. Robusta says it found a way to investigate large volumes of alerts "with non-linear token costs" without losing accuracy. It gives no figures for that.

Where it lands inside Freshworks

The post says Freshworks approached Robusta, and that the two teams have spent the past few months together. The stated aim is "proactive, self-healing production systems". It says little changes for now: Robusta is still hiring, will keep shipping, and promises more detail later. The Indian startup outlet Entrackr reported the deal the next day and also had no figures.

Read together with Torii, the direction is that Freshservice is reaching beyond ticket handling into the systems IT teams run: Torii for what software and AI the company pays for, Robusta for why production fails. Freshworks expects the Torii deal to close in its fourth fiscal quarter; it has said nothing yet about timing for Robusta.

Questions for current users

Teams running the open-source HolmesGPT or Robusta projects, or paying for Robusta's hosted service, have no statement yet on licences, the CNCF Sandbox status, pricing or whether the product will stay available outside Freshservice. Those are the points to put to Robusta before a renewal.

We list Freshworks as a company. Our incident management software category lists five products and service desk software 17.
