TrustList summary

Urban streets are what Kia says it sized the EV2 for, describing the all-electric model as compact by design with a roomy cabin. Kia sells it in the UK with two batteries: a 42.2 kWh pack on the First Edition, quoted at up to 195 miles on the WLTP cycle, and a 61.0 kWh pack on the Air, GT-Line and GT-Line S, quoted at up to 275, 261 and 257 miles respectively. Kia gives a DC rapid charge from 10 to 80% of 29 minutes for the smaller battery and 30 minutes for the larger one.

Four UK trims and what they cost

Prices on Kia's UK price guide start at £27,995 on the road for the Air, before the Electric Car Grant, which takes that figure to £24,245. The First Edition is £28,495, the GT-Line £32,745 and the GT-Line S £36,345, or £37,045 with a heat pump. All four are front wheel drive with a single speed automatic. Output is 133 bhp on the 61.0 kWh cars and 144 bhp on the 42.2 kWh First Edition. Benefit in kind for company car drivers is listed at 4%, which is why the fleet column of the price guide matters here as much as the retail one. Kia backs the car with its 7 year or 100,000 mile warranty.

Software, screens and remote control

Inside, three displays run across the dashboard on Kia's ccNC system: a 12.3 inch driver cluster, a 5.3 inch climate screen and a 12.3 inch central touchscreen. Over-the-air updates arrive automatically, and paid Kia Upgrades can switch on extra functions later. Digital Key 2.0 uses NFC so that a compatible phone or smartwatch locks, unlocks and starts the car, and the key can be shared. One Kia App combines Kia Connect and Kia Charge for remote control, route planning and charging. The GT-Line S alone has vehicle-to-load capability, with an adapter, and a front sunroof.

Space in a short footprint

Boot capacity is 362 litres, with 60:40 split folding rear seats on every trim. A front storage compartment is included on all trims except the Air. Wheels run from 16 inches on the Air to 19 inches on the two GT-Line cars.
