A compact five-seat electric hatchback with a 42.2 kWh or 61 kWh battery, projected range of up to 308 miles and a 441 litre boot.
Made by Hyundai

The IONIQ 3 is Hyundai's new entry to the electric hatchback market, designed in Europe and built at Hyundai Motor Türkiye's plant in İzmit. Hyundai pitches it as a compact car with genuine five-seat comfort, and shapes the cabin around what it calls a Furnished Space approach, with elements arranged like household furniture. A long wheelbase and a flat floor free up leg and head room.
Two batteries are offered: a 42.2 kWh pack with a projected range of up to 213 miles and a 61 kWh pack with a projected range of up to 308 miles. Hyundai states that official technical data and range for the car are pending final homologation, so treat both numbers as targets until the final WLTP figures appear. Output is up to 107.8 kW (147 PS) with 250 Nm of torque, a top speed of 105 mph and a 0 to 62 mph time of 8.7 seconds.
The boot holds 441 litres, and a hidden Megabox under the boot floor adds 119 litres. Vehicle-to-Load power of up to 3.6 kW is available from the 230V on-board socket or the exterior charging port.
The IONIQ 3 is the first Hyundai in Europe to carry the Pleos Connect infotainment system, which runs on Android Automotive OS. It has a 12.9 inch or 14.6 inch display and AI-enhanced voice recognition, and it brings preinstalled apps for media, navigation, phone connection, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus an app market for third-party software. Hyundai Digital Key 2 lets you open the car with a phone or wearable, and needs the myHyundai app and an active Bluelink subscription. Plug & Charge and an integrated EV route planner are included.
Hyundai SmartSense warns of hazards and helps with braking and steering. Memory Reserving Assist recalls your preferred warning and intervention settings every time you set off. Hyundai advertises a finance offer from £355 a month with a £355 deposit at 8.9% APR, which includes the £3,750 Electric Car Grant. No cash price is printed.
