Universal Robots launches Gen 7 platform with AI-ready arms
The Teradyne company redesigns controller, pendant and tool flange around PolyScope X, and adds three g-Series arms; the CB7 Core…
Universal Robots UR30: the heaviest-lifting UR cobot, with 30 kg payload (35 kg extended) and 1300 mm reach for torque-intensive screw driving and machine tending.

The UR30 is the strongest arm Universal Robots lists in its UR Series, with a 30 kg payload and an extended rating of 35 kg under specified conditions. Its reach is 1300 mm, its maximum tool centre point speed 4 m/s, and its weight 63.5 kg. The maker says it was purpose-built for torque-intensive work that pushes past standard cobot limits.
The UR30 delivers its heavy-duty performance in a compact footprint, which is what separates it from the UR20: less reach, but more payload. The maker names screw driving at high torque and machine tending with multiple grippers as core jobs. It uses the UR Series joint design, which Universal Robots says raises joint torque by about 25% and joint speed by as much as 65% against the UR3e, with roughly half the parts of an e-Series joint. The UR Series overview also mentions up to 35 kg lift with this model and a maximum joint speed of 300 degrees per second at the UR20 and UR30 wrists.
The UR Series page lists IP65 protection (dust-tight and protected against low-pressure water jets) and Cleanroom Class 4, defined by the maker as at most 10,000 particles per cubic metre of air. Tapered tubes give a stiffer structure, and the programmable LED ring at the base can use three default configurations described as complying with ISO 10218.
Applications listed are high-torque screw driving, machine tending, palletizing and material handling. The page says it moves larger electronics subassemblies and test fixtures, handles heavy parts in automotive, tends CNC machines with stable placement in metal fabrication, and carries heavy tooling and fixtures in education and research labs.
The M8 8-pin female connector follows ISO 9409-1-50-4-M6, with 12 V or 24 V power, two digital I/O and two analog inputs or one RS-485 channel. The UR30-1300 page lists identical figures for the CB7 controller variant.
