Universal Robots launches Gen 7 platform with AI-ready arms
The Teradyne company redesigns controller, pendant and tool flange around PolyScope X, and adds three g-Series arms; the CB7 Core…
Universal Robots UR15: a UR Series cobot with 15 kg payload (17.5 kg extended), 1300 mm reach and 5 m/s tool speed, rated IP65 and Cleanroom Class 4.

The UR15 is a UR Series arm that Universal Robots describes as compact and lightweight, with industry-ready certifications including Cleanroom Class 4. It carries 15 kg, with an extended rating of 17.5 kg under specified conditions, over a 1300 mm reach, and reaches a tool centre point speed of 5 m/s.
The UR15 shares its 1300 mm reach with the UR30 but is far lighter at 40.7 kg and moves faster, 5 m/s against 4 m/s. Against the UR18 it gives up some payload for more reach. The maker highlights the speed and the extra capacity as headroom for heavier, more complex tasks without lengthening cycle time. It uses the UR Series joint design, which Universal Robots says raises joint torque by about 25% and joint speed by as much as 65% against the UR3e, with roughly half the parts of an e-Series joint.
The UR Series page lists IP65 protection (dust-tight and protected against low-pressure water jets) and Cleanroom Class 4, defined by the maker as at most 10,000 particles per cubic metre of air. The arm has tapered tubes, which the maker says are stiffer than the earlier cylindrical ones, and a programmable LED light ring at the base for at-a-glance status. Three default light configurations are described as complying with ISO 10218.
Listed applications are material handling, AGV/AMR mounting, machine tending and palletizing. The page ties these to electronics manufacturing lines with high mix, lab sample handling, high-speed machine tending and palletizing in machining cells, and flexible parts handling in automotive plants.
The M8 8-pin female connector follows ISO 9409-1-50-4-M6 and gives 12 V or 24 V power, two digital I/O and two analog inputs or one RS-485 channel. The UR17g is a related g-Series arm with the same payload, reach and weight but a different tool flange. No CB7 variant page was captured for this model.
