Layoffs follow-up, 1 October 2026: F-Secure plans up to 145 role cuts in a new operating model; Oracle filed a WARN notice for 359 jobs in Seattle
1 October 2026 — Two more job-cut notices at technology vendors, after this morning's weekly round-up. As there, each comes from the company's own announcement or a government layoff notice, and each section says what customers should check.
Not yet independently verified. F-Secure’s plan rests on its own stock-exchange release; Oracle’s figure comes from Washington State’s list of layoff notices, and Oracle has made no public statement about it that we could read. No independent report of either was checked. We will update this when it can be confirmed, and remove this note.
F-Secure: up to 145 roles in a new operating model
F-Secure, the Finnish security company that sells mainly through telecom operators and other partners, announced on 1 October 2026 that it plans to reorganise into three business units, Partner Products, Embedded Security and Direct Business, plus a New Ventures unit, from 1 January 2027. It says the aim is to respond faster as AI reshapes the market and to extend "AI-native ways of working" across the company.
F-Secure expects the change to mean "a maximum reduction of 145 roles globally": up to 58 in Finland and up to 87 in other countries, with some new roles created. Change negotiations in Finland begin on 6 October 2026 and are expected to last about six weeks. The company says the F-Secure brand and its existing product portfolio stay unchanged. In a separate release on 29 September, F-Secure said one large partner intends not to extend its agreement after the end of March 2027.
For partners and customers: the product line is unchanged, but account and partner-management teams will be reorganised around the new units. Partners should ask who their contact will be from January and whether support arrangements change.
Oracle: WARN notice for 359 permanent layoffs in Seattle
Washington State's list of layoff notices shows Oracle America, Inc. with 359 permanent layoffs in Seattle, notice received on 14 September 2026, with layoffs from 13 November 2026. The list does not say which teams or products are affected.
For customers: a notice like this does not change a product by itself. If your account, support or implementation team is based in Seattle, ask Oracle whether it is affected, and keep an eye on Oracle's lifecycle and support-policy pages for any change that does follow.
