Synology C2 is the cloud service of Synology Inc., the NAS maker, and is built around its own hardware ecosystem. It groups several storage products: C2 Storage for Hyper Backup, which holds backups from Synology NAS devices, C2 Storage for Hybrid Share, which connects offices to a central cloud copy with local caching, Surveillance365 for camera footage retention, and C2 Object Storage.
C2 Object Storage is S3-compatible and is offered for backup, media hosting and analytics or data lake workloads, with object locking, versioning and data-centre resiliency. Synology states that C2 operates colocation data centres in Seattle in the United States and Frankfurt in Germany, and that once a buyer selects a data centre the data stays there. Customers pay under a C2 OneStorage plan with monthly or annual billing and flexible capacities, and a 30-day free trial is advertised.
Because the service is designed to extend Synology NAS deployments, it is most relevant to organisations already using Synology devices, although the object storage product uses the standard S3 API and can be used with other S3 tools. Partners resell the plans in some markets.
