Akamai Technologies

Akamai sells two groups of infrastructure products that matter to hosting buyers: a content delivery network and a cloud computing service. The cloud service was formerly branded Linode and now sits under the Akamai name.

The CDN page describes products for application and API performance, media and download delivery, and edge applications. It prints no prices and directs buyers to its sales team, so this part of the business is aimed at organisations that negotiate contracts.

The cloud service offers virtual machines, storage, networking and Kubernetes, with prices set by region. Its pricing page groups regions in the United States (Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Fremont, Los Angeles, Miami, Newark, Seattle and Washington DC), Canada (Toronto), the Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, France, Sweden, India (Chennai and Mumbai), Japan (Osaka and Tokyo), Singapore, Australia (Melbourne and Sydney), Brazil and Indonesia. Availability of individual products in each city is not itemised on that page, so buyers should check the product they need against the region they want.

Buyers comparing the two should note that the CDN is a sales-led product, while the cloud service publishes a regional price list on its pricing page.
