Browser-based office suite from Collabora, built on LibreOffice, that organisations host themselves and plug into Nextcloud, ownCloud, Moodle and other platforms.
Collabora Online is an office suite that runs in the web browser and lets several people edit the same document at once. It is made by Collabora Productivity, which builds it on LibreOffice, and it is meant to be run on an organisation's own servers or by a hosting partner rather than as a public cloud service.
It has four editors: Writer for text, Calc for spreadsheets, Impress for presentations and Draw for diagrams. Collabora says it works with Microsoft Office files as well as the OpenDocument formats, and the desktop version's page lists DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, ODT, ODS and ODP among the formats it opens. Collabora Online does not store files itself: it is connected to a file platform through an integration, and Collabora names Nextcloud, ownCloud, Moodle, Mattermost, Drupal, WordPress, SharePoint and Alfresco among them. Large deployments can be run on Kubernetes with the Collabora Online Controller.
It suits organisations that want document editing inside their own file-sharing or learning platform and need the files to stay on infrastructure they control, such as public bodies, universities and companies with data residency rules. Collabora counts more than 230 partners that integrate Collabora Online in their products.
On 27 October 2026 Collabora's subscription page listed a free Development Edition, called CODE, for testing and home use with rolling updates. The Business subscription costs 3 euros per user per month for up to 99 users and adds long-term support releases, a service level agreement, signed security updates and a customer portal. Enterprise, for 100 users or more, is quoted individually and adds a desktop version, mobile support, integration help and roadmap input. The source code is public on GitHub.
