Subaru starts on 21 December; the Toyota and Lexus hybrids, 55,477 in all, and a widened MINI electric recall began at once. None of the three notices is a software fix.

China recalls: 196,494 Subarus over horn cable, Prado and GX550h fuel lines

6 November 2026: China's market regulator has published three more car recalls from the same week, and the largest reaches back a decade. Subaru is calling in 196,494 imported cars built between 2011 and 2016 because the horn may stop working, while Toyota and Lexus hybrids get a fuel line fix and a small MINI electric recall grows.

Not yet independently verified. These figures come from the regulator's notices alone. We found no statement from Subaru, Toyota or BMW on them, and the MINI notice does not say whether the windscreen replacement is free. We will update this when it can be confirmed, and remove this note.

Subaru: a worn cable and a silent horn

Subaru Automobile (China) filed recall S2026M0135I, published on 6 November. It covers certain imported Forester, Legacy, Outback, XV and BRZ cars built from 23 August 2011 to 25 August 2016.

The fault sits in the steering spiral cable. A guide device inside it can, under certain conditions, wear the internal wiring until it breaks. The horn may then fail to sound, so a driver could not warn nearby vehicles or pedestrians in an emergency.

Subaru will inspect the cable free of charge and replace any pre-improvement part with the improved one, also free. The recall starts on 21 December 2026, which leaves owners and fleet managers about six weeks to plan.

Toyota and Lexus: fuel lines that may detach

Two linked filings were published on 4 November. Both describe the same defect: the retainer on the fuel line's quick-connect fitting can be lifted by unexpected external force, and under certain impact loads the line may come off. That can leak fuel.

Filing Company Cars Built Number
S2026M0133I FAW Toyota (Chengdu) Land Cruiser Prado hybrid, made in China 15 July 2024 to 6 October 2026 47,347
S2026M0134I Toyota Motor (China) Investment Lexus GX550h, imported 28 February 2024 to 1 October 2026 8,130

The two filings add up to 55,477 cars and began at once. Where the fitting is normal, the companies add a fixing cover plate. Where it is abnormal, they replace the fuel line assembly and add the plate. Both are free.

The production window runs to early October 2026, so these are recent cars.

MINI: a mirror that can come loose

Spotlight Automotive, the maker named in the notice as 光束汽车有限公司, filed S2026M0113V on 4 November for MINI electric cars made in China: 39 Aceman, 42 JCW and 633 Cooper, built between January and April 2026. That is 714 cars.

Poor adhesion between the interior mirror bracket and the windscreen can let the mirror loosen and block the driver's view, and in extreme cases it could fall and injure someone. BMW (China) Automotive Trading will replace the windscreen assembly. The notice also changes the remedy and widens the scope of a recall announced on 24 July 2026.

How these fit this week's list

None of the three is a software fix, unlike Porsche's Cayenne parking assist recall. They join our earlier round-up of Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz and Chery notices. A company with cars in China can look each one up at the regulator's recall centre.

We list Subaru, Toyota and BMW among 52 car makers. The notices apply to cars sold in China; none of them says anything about other markets.
