Asymptote Labs raises $5.5m seed to watch what AI coding agents do

Asymptote Labs is a New York company that gives security and engineering teams runtime visibility and control over AI agents, built on Beacon, its MIT-licensed open-source agent telemetry layer.
Asymptote Labs is a New York software company building what it calls runtime infrastructure for AI agents. Its products record what coding and other AI agents do on company machines, turn that activity into one consistent stream of data, and let security and engineering teams set rules about what agents may do.
Beacon is the open-source foundation, released under the MIT licence. It inventories agent tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot and VS Code agents, more than 20 in all, and captures prompts, tool calls, file edits, approvals and other runtime events. That activity is normalised into a common data model that extends OpenTelemetry. For developers, Beacon also carries learnings from one coding session into the next.
The paid enterprise platform is built on Beacon. It intercepts live agent activity, applies policy guardrails at the prompt and tool level, and blocks risky actions before they run. A library of detections covers data leakage, insider threats, AI supply chain risks and inefficient agent workflows, and the company says findings appear within minutes of deployment.
Security teams are the first buyers, and Asymptote says security teams at regulated enterprises were among Beacon's earliest adopters and already run the platform in production. It also pitches the same data to engineering teams debugging agent failures, platform teams tracking adoption, and finance teams looking at agent usage and cost.
