Trendspek raises A$6m to expand 3D asset records in the US and Europe
30 September 2026: Trendspek, an Australian software company that keeps condition records for ports, energy sites and telecoms networks, has raised A$6 million in a round led by OIF Ventures. The company says the money pays for expansion into North America and Europe and for its AI roadmap.
How a 3D record replaces scattered inspection files
Trendspek says inspection findings still routinely end up in PDFs, spreadsheets and the heads of people about to retire. Its platform takes data from drones, robotics and handheld inspection and turns it into a high-accuracy 3D record of an asset within hours. Inspection, engineering, maintenance and capital works teams then flag defects, add notes and measure directly on that record.
Because every capture is anchored to the same record, teams can see how a crack, a corroded weld or a failing coating has changed since the last inspection. That is the evidence behind a repair-or-replace decision. The founders borrowed the idea from aviation, where every component has a service history and nothing is signed off from memory.
The customer figures Trendspek quotes
More than 860 organisations use Trendspek to reach over 1,700 sites digitally, with 128,000 virtual site visits completed. Customers include Chevron, Woodside Energy, NSW Ports, Grain LNG and Vocus, and the company says revenue from critical-infrastructure customers has grown at a compound annual rate of 165 per cent over three years.
NSW Ports, which oversees Port Botany and Port Kembla, reports that a full jetty inspection now costs about a third of what it did, with timelines cut from months to weeks. Vocus says it has halved site mobilisation time, and engineering firm WGA says it has halved inspection times on large container cranes.
Training defect models on seven years of inspections
The AI work builds on seven years of defects that engineers have already identified, classified and tracked. Trendspek says it is training models to flag likely defects automatically and to detect how a known defect has changed between captures, so that a shrinking pool of engineers can spend time on judgement rather than reviewing imagery. In North America and Europe it already works with Suncor Energy and the Port of Rotterdam.
Chief executive Derek Feebrey says most asset owners "are not short of inspection data" but lack a reliable picture of what they own and what is changing. The company was founded in Sydney in 2019 by Feebrey, Fiona Church and Mitch Deam, all former Qantas pilots, and holds ISO 9001, ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 certificates. Its previous round was a A$6.3 million Series A in December 2022, according to Startup Daily.
OIF Ventures, founded in 2016 and based in Sydney, backs enterprise software, fintech, cybersecurity and construction technology companies and has invested in more than 50 companies.
