What Numeracle does

Numeracle calls its approach Entity Identity Management. It verifies that a business is who it says it is, then uses that verified identity to manage how the business's phone numbers are treated by carriers and analytics engines, and to show a branded caller ID on the recipient's phone. Its newest product is Know Your Customer as a Service (KYCaaS), which verifies business identity across the life of a customer relationship and is aimed at telecom companies that must vet the businesses using their networks under US Federal Communications Commission rules.

The company says annual recurring revenue is up 70% year on year and that it verifies more than 4,000 enterprise brands across financial services, retail, healthcare and home services, from local firms to the Fortune 500. Its own survey found that 69% of US consumers had missed, ignored or declined a call because they could not trust the caller ID.

What the money is for

Numeracle will grow its go-to-market, sales, product and research teams and its international presence, and expand into new industries and regions. It also plans to take verified identity beyond voice calls to messaging, rich communications and other digital channels.

Founder and chief executive Rebekah Johnson, who served on the FCC's Robocall Strike Force, says: "We built Entity Identity Management because fraud and impersonation are not fundamentally communications problems, they are identity problems." Lenard Marcus, a general partner at Edison Partners, a growth equity firm, called the company a compelling investment.

Why it matters to businesses that call customers

For banks, insurers, clinics and service companies, legitimate calls labelled as spam are a real cost: missed appointments, unreached customers, fraud warnings that go unread. Verified identity and branded calling are the industry's answer, and carriers are tightening how they vet the businesses behind numbers. Firms that run outbound calling should ask their telephony and contact-centre providers how their numbers are registered and verified, and whether branded caller ID is offered on the carriers their customers use. The extension to messaging matters too, since impersonation by text is growing alongside spoofed calls.
