Cleavr raises €8m to chase unpaid invoices with AI

6 October 2026: Cleavr, a French start-up that automates the chasing of unpaid invoices, has raised €8 million in a seed round led by Varsity. It comes six months after a €1 million pre-seed in March, and the company says the money will go on sales teams across Europe and on the product.

Kima Ventures and Better Angle, both earlier backers, put in again. Portfolio Ventures, Kerala Ventures and Financière Saint James join, along with 100IN, Station F and Clover, and the company names angel investors from Datadog and from private-equity funds. Tech.eu reported the same amount, stage and lead.

The software contacts a business's customers by email, SMS, automated voice calls and WhatsApp, logs disputes so a contested invoice is handled by a person rather than chased, matches incoming payments to invoices and can hand a case on to legal proceedings. Cleavr says more than 100 companies in logistics, transport, manufacturing, construction and technology took it up in seven months, and that in their first months customers cut days sales outstanding by 37% on average, collected 40% more cash and spent 80% less time on reminders. Those figures are the company's own.

"Finance teams can finally concentrate on what creates value," Baptiste Nassoy, co-founder and chief executive, said in the announcement (our translation from French).

The product launched about seven months before this round, so its scope and prices are still young. Collection by automated voice and WhatsApp also has to fit each country's rules on debt collection and consent, which differ across the European markets Cleavr is moving into.
