VinFast VF 9

The VinFast VF 9 is the larger of the two electric SUVs on the maker US site. It has three rows of seats for seven people and is sold in Eco and Plus trims, with a starting MSRP of $62,900 that excludes destination charges, taxes and registration fees.

Performance and range

The VF 9 has dual-motor all-wheel drive with 402 hp and a stated 0 to 62 mph time of 6.63 seconds. Its usable battery is 123 kWh. The EPA range is listed as 330 miles for the Eco and 291 miles for the Plus.

Driver assistance

The page names a long list of assistance features: motorway driving assist, automatic lane-changing assist, on-ramp and off-ramp assist, cruise assist, collision warning, automatic emergency braking, radar blind spot detection, fully automated parking assist, remote parking and summon mode. VinFast adds that some of these may be delivered later by software update and may need a subscription.

Charging, app and voice

DC fast charging is quoted at 10 to 70 percent in 35 minutes for both trims. The VinFast App covers vehicle data, remote control, navigation, maintenance booking and roadside assistance. A voice assistant can be activated by saying the Alexa wake word after setup.

Ownership terms

The vehicle warranty is 10 years or 125,000 miles, and the US site lists a 10 year battery warranty with unlimited miles under standard use. The spec sheet is dated November 2024 and the finance terms refer to a 2024 VF 9 Plus.
