VinFast is a Vietnamese car maker that sells battery-electric vehicles under its own name.

What it makes

The US line-up on the official site centres on two electric SUVs, the VF 8 with two rows of seats and the VF 9 with three rows for seven people. Alongside the cars, the company also sells an electric bike called the VF DrgnFly, which it lists with up to 68 miles of electric range. The contact form on the same site also names the VF 6 and VF 7 as models a visitor can ask about, although the page gives no details on them.

Where it sells and supports owners

VinFast presents a US storefront with a dealer locator, a service page and a charging page. Customers can call a dedicated service hotline. The company states that its owners can reach most public charging stations in the US, with more than 250,000 chargers across North America. DC fast charging is quoted at 10 to 70 percent in about 31 minutes for the VF 8.

Ownership terms and software

New vehicles carry a 10 year, 125,000 mile limited warranty, and the battery is covered for 10 years with no mileage limit under standard use. The VinFast App lets owners view vehicle data, control the car remotely, use navigation, book maintenance and request roadside assistance. The company says it aims to keep its vehicles up to date with software updates.
