Rivian R1T

What it is

The R1T is Rivian's battery-electric pickup truck, sold in the United States for the 2027 model year. The company positions it as a vehicle for both daily driving and outdoor trips, and the current line-up is organised into three trims named Premium, Performance and Quad. These names replace the earlier Dual, Tri and Quad labels.

Trims and performance

The Premium trim uses two motors with all-wheel drive and is listed at 533 horsepower and 610 lb-ft of torque, with a 0 to 60 mph time of as little as 4.5 seconds. A power upgrade option lifts this to 665 horsepower and 829 lb-ft, cutting the sprint to as little as 3.4 seconds. The Performance trim has three motors, 850 horsepower and 1,103 lb-ft, with 0 to 60 mph in as little as 2.9 seconds. The Quad trim has 1,025 horsepower and 1,198 lb-ft. Rivian quotes 2.5 seconds to 60 mph and a quarter mile in 10.5 seconds for the Quad with Launch Mode, which it restricts to closed tracks.

Range and wheels

Rivian's page gives EPA-estimated figures of up to 420 miles for the Premium Long Range, 371 miles for Performance and 374 miles for Quad, based on 22 inch wheels unless stated. Fitting 20 inch Adventure wheels changes the figures to 300 miles for Premium, 380 miles for Premium Long Range and 348 miles for Performance. The Adventure all-season wheel and tyre is standard on the Premium and comes at no cost on the Performance. Rivian notes that range varies with tyres, drive modes, weather, climate control use and accessories.
