About Pigment

What Pigment does

Pigment is a cloud platform for business planning and performance management. It brings budgeting, forecasting, reporting and scenario analysis for several departments into one connected model, instead of separate spreadsheets or point tools. Pigment itself describes the category as enterprise performance management (EPM) and also uses the label "AI business planning". Typical work in the product includes budgets and rolling forecasts, P&L, cash flow and balance sheet planning, financial consolidation, revenue and sales planning, headcount and workforce planning, demand and inventory planning, and sales and operations planning. It also lists ESG reporting, carbon accounting and AI investment planning among its use cases.

Who uses it

Pigment organises its site around four teams: finance, sales and revenue, HR, and supply chain, plus a separate ESG offer. Its customer stories are filtered by industry (consumer goods, financial services, technology, retail, transportation, travel and hospitality, public administrations and others) and show employee bands from the low thousands to more than 90,000. Customers it names include Unilever, Danone, Siemens (through Hacon), Carta, Figma, Fivetran, Uber and Supercell.

How it works

The platform runs on a proprietary engine Pigment calls Graphite, which it describes as patent-pending. Pigment says it provides an elastic compute layer, a shared semantic layer for definitions and hierarchies, and native scenarios. Models are built from dimensions, metrics, tables and boards, and the product includes workflows, in-app collaboration, and a test-and-deploy mechanism with linked testing environments. Pigment also offers a library of templated applications (workforce planning, core financial reporting, OPEX planning, sales capacity, project management).

Pigment AI is presented as a network of agents. The Analyst Agent monitors metrics, flags anomalies and builds reports; the Modeler Agent builds and edits models from natural-language descriptions, proposing a step-by-step plan that the user approves before changes run; a Planner Agent is marked as coming soon; and a Supervisor Agent orchestrates the others. Frames, launched on 10 September 2026, lets users describe an interface in plain language and have it built on the live model. The Pigment MCP Server lets external AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor query and edit governed Pigment data, and Agent Connectors let Pigment's agents read from tools such as Notion, Google Drive and Slack.

Integrations

Pigment states it offers native connectors, scheduled imports, an API and generic APIs for custom builds. Its integrations page groups connectors into ERP and accounting (NetSuite, Sage Intacct, SAP), CRM (Salesforce), HRIS and ATS (Workday, Greenhouse, HiBob, Lever), data lakes (Snowflake, AWS Redshift, Azure SQL, Databricks, Google BigQuery), BI (Looker), spreadsheets (Excel, Google Sheets) and file storage (AWS S3, Google Cloud Storage, SFTP). Many of these are labelled "On the Roadmap" on that page, while the platform page shows several as available, so current coverage should be confirmed.

Security and compliance

Pigment's security page states SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001 certifications, audited annually, with a compliance programme covering GDPR and CCPA/CPRA; its site footer also shows SOC 1. Customers can operate it in line with relevant Sarbanes-Oxley provisions. Data is encrypted with AES-256 at rest and TLS 1.2+ in transit. Authentication supports SAML 2.0 SSO, SCIM, Google login, MFA and domain allowlisting, and an Audit Trail API feeds a SIEM. Customer data can be held in Frankfurt (europe-west3) or Oregon (us-west1), or on S3NS, a SecNumCloud 3.2 sovereign cloud. Pigment says customer data is not used to train foundation models. It states a recovery time objective of 6 hours and a recovery point objective of 24 hours.

Company

The founders, Eléonore Crespo and Romain Niccoli, say they started Pigment in 2019. Its newsroom reports a $73 million Series B (15 November 2021), an $88 million Series C (8 June 2023, total raised stated as $248 million) and a $145 million Series D led by ICONIQ Growth (4 April 2024). Its careers page lists offices in Paris, London, Toronto, New York, San Francisco and Austin.

Results Pigment reports from customers

These are Pigment's own case-study figures, not independent measurements:

  • Danone: Pigment reports 80% time saved on strategic planning, from two weeks to one day (Sophie Hun quote). (customer story)
  • Fivetran: Pigment reports 12 hours saved every month on executive reporting. (customer story)
  • Carta: Pigment reports 80% less time on data aggregation and manual calculations. (customer story)
  • Supercell: Pigment reports P&L actuals and forecast update went from 8 days to 4 minutes. (customer story)
  • Ankorstore: quoted by Pigment: forecast accuracy improved by 20% to 25%. (customer story)

Alternatives Pigment compares itself with

Pigment publishes comparison pages against Anaplan, Planful and Workday Adaptive Planning. Buyers shortlisting a planning platform usually evaluate at least two of these side by side on the same model.

What to check before buying

  • Pricing: no public price list was found; ask for a written quote and what drives it (users, modules, data volume).
  • Implementation time and who builds the models: ask for a plan, the role of partners, and how much your own admins must do. Pigment says the Modeler Agent shortens build work, so ask for evidence on a model like yours.
  • Connector coverage: confirm each system you use is live today, not on the roadmap, and whether it is native or via API.
  • Data residency: choose Frankfurt, Oregon or S3NS and confirm it is contractual.
  • Admin skills: check whether finance staff can maintain models after launch.
  • AI features: ask which agents are generally available versus beta, and how AI use is governed.
  • Trial: Pigment offers a 14-day trial; test it with your own data structure.
