Minicor is a software product from Laminar Run, Inc. that lets companies automate programs which have no usable API. Its site describes the idea as interfacing with legacy desktop applications and calling them like any API. A seed round of 3.8 million dollars, backed by IA Ventures, Y Combinator and Paul Graham, is announced in a banner on the home page.
Minicor builds automations by using an application the way a person would: opening screens, clicking, entering data, reading values and checking each step actually worked. It then gives the customer an API endpoint to call, so no separate integration has to be built. The company calls the result self-healing, because known tasks run without AI and AI is brought in only for judgment, such as fixing an error or adjusting to a screen that has changed. The product runs on Windows desktops, over Citrix and remote desktop, and in browser-based applications, and can be hosted on the customer's infrastructure or on Minicor's.
The site lists component-level access control, verification of each action, and human approval before certain steps. Every run produces run-level and step-level logs plus video replays. It handles two-factor and one-time-password logins, credential vaulting and persistent sessions, and it can push events to customer systems through webhooks, telemetry and Slack. For scale it uses pooled virtual machines, routing, parallel runs and caching. The home page reports 2.5 million executions run.
Minicor's use-case catalogue is sorted by vertical: healthcare and life sciences (electronic health records, insurance eligibility, patient intake, home health, dental), financial services and insurance, supply chain, warehouse and ERP systems, manufacturing, transportation, automotive dealer management, hospitality, retail, government, legal, education, HR and payroll, and telecommunications.
