Species360 ZIMS

Species360 ZIMS is the Zoological Information Management System run by Species360, a non-profit organisation. Zoos, aquariums, botanical gardens and wildlife bodies use it to record the daily care, health and population data of animals under human care. Members enter records worldwide, and the combined data supports conservation research.

What Species360 ZIMS offers

• Husbandry records — tracks welfare, enclosures, feeding, enrichment, training, transfers and permits.
• ZIMS for Medical — keeps a lifetime veterinary and husbandry history for each animal or group, with sample storage and charts of changes in condition.
• ZIMS for Studbooks — manages breeding programmes and pedigrees at local, regional and international level, replacing older studbook tools such as SPARKS and PopLink.
• Training — LearnZIMS and a training academy teach staff and students to use the system.
• Insights programme — subscription access to aggregated wildlife data for research.
