Proofread Bot

Proofread Bot checks grammar, spelling and style where people write, rather than in a separate application. It underlines problems and lets the user accept or ignore each suggestion in place.

What Proofread Bot does

• Browser extension: works in Gmail, Messenger and web forms in Chrome, Firefox and Edge.
• Google Docs add-on: a separate add-on handles documents, because the browser extension does not run inside Docs.
• Standalone editor: a web workspace for pasting or writing text to proofread.
• Readability scores: reports US grade level and Flesch Kincaid reading ease for the text.
• Pro checks: deeper paid checks such as comma splices and fused sentences, plus parts-of-speech analysis.

Customers and markets

The site also publishes writing guides on topics such as proofreading a manuscript, a resume or a Word document, and common grammar slips for non-native English speakers.
