Accelerator deadlines: Y Combinator Winter 2027 on 2 November, Techstars Spring 2027 on 18 November
28 September 2026 — Two of the largest accelerators have set their next deadlines for early-stage founders. Y Combinator is taking applications for its Winter 2027 batch, with an on-time deadline of 2 November 2026 at 8pm Pacific time. Techstars has applications open for its Spring 2027 accelerator programmes, with a final deadline of 18 November 2026. Both dates are from each accelerator's own pages, read on 28 September; neither page dates when the round opened.
Y Combinator, Winter 2027
- Batch: January to March 2027, in person in San Francisco, starting with a three-day kick-off.
- Deadline: 2 November at 8pm PT. On-time applicants get a decision by 11 December. Later applications are still considered, without a promised response date.
- Interviews: mostly by video in November and December, with decisions usually made the same day.
- Standard deal: YC invests $500,000 in every accepted company: $125,000 on a post-money SAFE for 7% and $375,000 on an uncapped SAFE with a most-favoured-nation clause. YC also takes a pro rata right in later rounds and says it charges no fees. It invests once a company is accepted rather than waiting for the batch.
- Company structure: YC invests in US, Canadian, Cayman and Singapore corporations. Companies incorporated elsewhere must set up a parent company in one of those four, which YC says it helps arrange.
- Students can apply now for a later batch through Early Decision and are funded on acceptance.
Techstars, Spring 2027
Techstars' programme pages show the same timeline for its Spring 2027 cohort, including London, Anywhere (remote), New York and Tokyo: applications opened on 24 August 2026, the final deadline is 18 November 2026, programmes start on 8 March 2027 and demo day is on 3 June 2027. Investment terms, programme themes and locations differ by programme and should be checked on each programme's own page.
Why the details matter
For founders outside the United States, YC's incorporation rule means a corporate restructure ("flip") before investment, which takes legal work and can have tax effects in the home country. The uncapped SAFE converts on the terms of the lowest-cap SAFE issued between about the start of the batch and the priced round, so later fundraising terms affect how much equity YC ends up holding.
What to do
- The two timelines overlap and neither page forbids applying elsewhere, so founders can weigh both; YC's on-time decisions come by 11 December.
- Aim to submit before the deadlines rather than on them; YC says it encourages applying as soon as you are ready.
- If incorporated outside YC's four jurisdictions, get early advice on what a flip would involve.
- Model the YC deal against your next round's likely valuation cap before accepting.
