Harvey raises $550M as legal AI adoption inside law firms accelerates
9 September 2026 — Harvey, a legal AI vendor, said on 9 September 2026 that it has raised $550 million in new funding, co-led by Diffusion and Lightspeed Venture Partners with Sapphire Ventures, Whale Rock Capital Management and existing investors also participating. Harvey's own announcement puts its valuation at $15.5 billion, up from $11 billion in a round the company raised in March 2026.
A note on this figure. TrustList does not normally report venture-funding amounts, valuations or deal counts, because we cannot independently verify a private company’s figures and a running tally of round sizes tells a reader little about whether a product works. We are naming Harvey’s figures here as part of a one-day, disclosed exception the owner approved for 26 September 2026, because a legal-software buyer evaluating Harvey against other AI legal tools may reasonably want to know whether the vendor is still attracting capital. The amount and valuation above are Harvey’s own, unverified by us, and this is not the start of a regular funding-news beat.
What's changing
- Harvey's own announcement follows the release of its first post-trained open-weight model and the launch of Harvey LAB, its own Legal Agent Benchmark, and the company says the new funding goes toward continuing that product work.
- Harvey states that 80% of Am Law 100 firms and five Fortune 10 companies now use its tools for legal research, contract analysis and workflow automation — figures from the company's own release, not independently confirmed here.
- No specific new product or pricing change was announced alongside the funding; the announcement is about capital and valuation, not a change to what current customers can do today.
Why it matters for a legal-software buyer
- Harvey's valuation nearly doubling from an $11 billion round in March to $15.5 billion in September is one data point for judging how contested the legal AI category has become — useful context when a vendor's sales team cites "market leadership."
- If you already use Harvey, continued large funding rounds are one signal, not proof, that the vendor intends to keep investing in the product rather than plateau or be acquired.
- If you are evaluating legal AI vendors broadly, ask each one directly for its own adoption figures and how they were measured, since "80% of Am Law 100 firms" and similar figures are vendor-stated claims that vary in how they are counted.
