Google sets 31 March end for Code Assist inside Gemini Enterprise

6 November 2026: Existing Gemini Enterprise Standard and Plus customers lose their bundled Gemini Code Assist entitlement on 31 March 2027, Google Cloud's release notes now say, adding a firm date to the sunset of its coding assistant. Support until then is limited to the Gemini 3.x model family, and Google points customers to Antigravity.

Not yet independently verified. Only the Gemini Enterprise date is new this week; the sunset page was last updated on 29 October. That page gives 31 December 2027 for monthly renewals, which we quote as printed although it sits oddly beside the annual date. We will update this when it can be confirmed, and remove this note.

The dates depend on how it was bought

Each route has its own date, which is the first thing a buyer needs to sort out:

  • New Gemini Enterprise subscriptions: no Code Assist since 9 October 2026
  • New standalone Standard or Enterprise subscriptions: none since 9 October 2026
  • Annual standalone subscriptions: can auto-renew until 31 January 2027, then cannot be renewed; extra licences can also be added until that date
  • Monthly standalone subscriptions: can auto-renew until 31 December 2027, as printed on the page
  • Existing Gemini Enterprise Standard and Plus: bundled entitlement ends 31 March 2027

Existing standalone subscriptions stay supported to the end of their contract. So an annual subscription renewed in late January could run into early 2028, while a Gemini Enterprise customer loses access on a fixed day regardless of its renewal date. The monthly date is the odd one out, and anyone relying on it should ask Google to confirm it.

Where Google wants customers to go

Antigravity is included in Gemini Enterprise editions, so for those customers the licence question largely answers itself. The sunset page points to Antigravity extensions for VS Code and JetBrains, and has a migration guide from Gemini CLI to Antigravity CLI. We reported a similar move when Firebase Studio's sunset was announced with the same destination.

Moving a licence is easy, but the working setup takes longer. Custom commands, shared rules files, CI jobs that call the CLI and admin policies for code customisation all need checking against the new tool. Teams should run that on a pilot group well ahead of 31 March instead of treating it as a switch on the last day.

Model support matters as well. With Code Assist held to Gemini 3.x during the run-out, customers staying until the end will be on older models than the ones Google is offering elsewhere, and any evaluation of the tool's quality should bear that in mind.

Other breaking changes in the same notes

Two smaller items in the same release notes could catch data and platform teams. From 31 January 2027, the BigQuery Data Transfer Service connector for Shopify drops the legacyMode field on DeliveryProfile and permitSkuSharing on FulfillmentService, so any query or dashboard reading those fields will need changing.

The Gemini Notebook Enterprise address also moves: its URL path gains "go/", with other locations following from 9 November, and "lm" is removed from the hostname from 16 November. Bookmarks, firewall allowlists and any internal links will need updating.
